ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Expect delays next Monday when two new road closures in downtown Ann Arbor begin. Northwest-bound traffic will use Maiden Lane to access Broadway Street, Plymouth Road or Moore Street. At 9 a.m. the same day, East William Street between South Main Street and South Fourth Avenue will close for ten days for road work. Eastbound traffic on West William Street will be detoured to South Main Street, Packard Street, South Fourth Avenue and onto East William Street. Traffic coming in the opposite direction will do the reverse by detouring to South Fourth Avenue, Packard Street, South Main Street and then to West William Street.

DETROIT – A police pursuit ended in a crash Sunday night on Detroit’s west side. Police said it started when Redford police spotted a carjacking suspect out of Livonia. Michigan State Police joined the pursuit that ended when police said the suspect crashed into a Jeep near the intersection of Plymouth Road and Marlowe Street. According to authorities, the Jeep was transporting a mother and child, who were rushed to the hospital. Police said they are expected to be OK and the suspect was taken into custody.

DETROIT – Police said a 43-year-old man driving a pickup at a high rate of speed disregarded a red light and collided with a Dodge Caravan that was carrying multiple passengers. A 17-year-old man was driving the Dodge Caravan southbound on the Southfield Freeway Service Drive with three passengers: A 46-year-old woman, 13-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl. All of the passengers in the Dodge Caravan were transported by medics to a local hospital. DETROIT – A Detroit family is mourning the death of little girl killed in a car crash after a driver ran a red light. DETROIT Detroit police are investigating an incident involving gunfire that happened Friday afternoon in the area of Plymouth Road and Wyoming Avenue. Police say a shot was fired around 3 p.m. as officers tried stopping a man. Police say as the man ran from police he pulled out a gun. When officers heard the gun go off they grabbed the man and arrested him. According to police, although the gun went off, the man was not intentionally trying to target officers.

DETROIT – A 58-year-old woman died Saturday night amid an altercation that turned physical on Detroit’s west side. A preliminary investigation by Detroit police indicated that the victim accompanied a 55-year-old man, who was involved in a verbal altercation with another man in the 14600 block of Plymouth Road. Police said the second man allegedly entered his vehicle and struck the 55-year-old man’s Ford Taurus. The 58-year-old woman was standing behind the Taurus at the time and was struck by the vehicle. DETROIT Two people have been charged following the death of a 48-year-old man who was killed in a car crash on Friday. The man was struck by a 19-year-old driver who was fleeing Detroit police. Officers identified the suspects vehicle traveling south on West Outer Drive near Plymouth Road. The 48-year-old man driving the Honda Odyssey was transported to the hospital following the crash, where he was pronounced dead. On Monday Stringer was charged with second-degree murder, first- and second-degree fleeing and eluding, reckless driving causing death and reckless driving causing serious impairment of bodily function.

At the time, it was broadcast to other officers that the suspect was driving a white Chrysler 300. The 48-year-old man was transported to a local hospital where he was pounced dead. The woman, who is 19 years old, driving the Chrysler 300 was taken into custody. A 21-year-old man was in the back seat of the Chrysler 300 and he was also taken into custody. Two other occupants, a 15-year-old girl and a 33-year-old man, are also being treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

DETROIT A 27-year-old man is in stable condition after some sort of officer involved shooting Sunday night on Detroits west side. Police have provided little information about what led up to the shooting. The shooting happened in the area of Plymouth and Wyoming. Police say the man is in custody and was taken to the hospital. Police also say a weapon was recovered at the scene.

DETROIT A 27-year-old man was shot by a Detroit police officer on the citys west side on Sunday night. Detroit Police Chief James Craig says the investigation is young, but was able to provide some details during a news conference Monday afternoon. According to Craig, police assigned to the area noticed the man carrying a concealed weapon outside of a green light gas station around 11 p.m. in the area of Plymouth Road and Wyoming Avenue. One officer fired between five and six rounds of his weapon at the suspect, officials said. Officials say the man continued to run after he was struck.

REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. The mother of a 5-year-old girl who was accidentally shot by her younger brother, who found a loaded gun, in Redford Township has a message for other parents with guns. The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Monday inside a mobile home on Plymouth Road near Haggerty Road in Redford Township, police said. Karina Norwood is recovering at Childrens Hospital after her 4-year-old brother found a loaded gun and accidentally shot her in the head. He woke up, went into a back bedroom and unlocked a small closet, which had a loaded gun inside, Kiser said. He thought it was a toy gun, Kiser said.

LIVONIA, Mich. – One of the most cratered and crumbling sections of Merriman Road in Livonia will undergo a $1.73 million resurfacing project starting Monday, July 6. The city of Livonia is alerting drivers about reduced lanes and slow travel on Merriman Road from Plymouth Road to Schoolcraft (I-96 Service Drive) starting Monday as the road is resurfaced and repaired. The city says initial work will begin on the outside lanes in each direction, with motorists allowed to drive in lanes adjacent to the center turn lane. Once the outside lanes are resurfaced, traffic will be allowed on the outside lanes. The Wayne County Department of Public Service is in charge the $1.73 million road improvement that includes about one mile of hot mix asphalt, cold milling and resurfacing, concrete pavement repair, sidewalk ramps and pavement markings.

DETROIT – A 5-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was hit by an SUV in Detroit on Monday. Police said the girl was with her family at a liquor store near Plymouth and Evergreen roads. They were leaving the store about 5 p.m. when the girl ran into the street and was struck. The 76-year-old driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

DETROIT – Police are looking for two suspects wanted in connection with an attempted armed robbery that happened on Detroit’s west side. Police said the attempted robbery happened on Jan. 24 at 11:13 p.m. in the 12600 block of Plymouth Road. Video shows the victim and suspect struggling when a second suspect shows a handgun and points it in the direction of the victim. Police described the second suspect as a black man between the ages of 20 and 22. He had a black full beard and was wearing a black knit cap, black hooded sweater, black pants and red gym shoes.

LIVONIA, Mich. - A 47-year-old Livonia man faces an assault charge after video captured a road rage incident July 18 on Plymouth Road. Livonia police said a witness was able to record cellphone video of Brown's actions. Police said Brown can be seen on video trying to drag the victim out of his truck, then yanking off one of his shoes and throwing it across Plymouth Road. The witness was also able to record Browns license plate. The video recording was subsequently turned over to Livonia police who conducted an investigation which led to his arrest, police said.
