Detroit police are on the hunt for a man who shot point blank at one of its officers and then proceeded to carjack a mom that had just arrived home with her children.

A two-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself on Detroit’s east side. Police say the boy found his mother’s gun that was unlocked in his bedroom.
An Owosso woman drove to Detroit’s west side and fired multiple rounds into a home with two adults, a 15-year-old and an infant inside, police said.

More than $240,000 from a Community Policing Development Grant will help out Detroit police. That federal funding is coming from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS).
