Sicknick died after defending the Capitol against the mob that stormed the building as Congress was voting to certify Joe Biden’s electoral win over Donald Trump.

LANSING, Mich. – Disturbing video of an arrest near Lansing has led to criminal charges against a state trooper over how he handled his police dog. Parker Surbrook joined the Michigan State Police in 2012 and worked his way up to becoming a K-9 handler. The dashcam footage shows Surbook’s K-9 was on the suspect for more than 3 and a half minutes while the man pleaded for the trooper to pull the dog off. AdThe driver pleads for Surbrook to remove the dog and said his leg is broken. After reviewing the video, Surbrook was charged with one count of felonious assault.

A Detroit police detective sergeant is celebrating a milestone unreached by many: 50 years spent on the force. Raymond Yee has spent the last 50 years of his life serving the city of Detroit, and the stories of what he’s seen could go on for days. “I just couldn’t believe I woke up on February 15th, and said, ‘My God, I’ve got 50 years,” Yee said. “A man jumped in the Detroit River and he was about 350 pounds. We had to use some imagination and initiative, so we threw him a rope and we called for a tow truck to get him out of the river,” Yee recalled.

The 42-year-old officer was only the fifth person to lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda, a designation for those who are not elected officials, judges or military leaders. Also in attendance was Wenling Chestnut, widow of slain Capitol Police Officer Jacob Chestnut, one of two Capitol Police officers killed by a gunman in 1998.

DETROIT When a Detroit police officer saw that 4-year-old four year old Mason Evans was crying and scared of him, he took the time to talk to the little boy to comfort him. I heard a kid crying saying, I dont want to get shot, I dont want to die, said Masons grandmother, Gina Kelly. An officer asked Kelly if he could talk to Mason and, when given the go-ahead, he told Mason police are there to help others when theyre in trouble.
