The latest surge comes as public health officials across the U.S. raise the alarm about out-of-control transmission of the virus, strengthen restrictions and urge people against holding large Thanksgiving gatherings. The King's Head had to offer its traditional British fare โ everything from bangers and mash and fish and chips to traditional Sunday roast โ for takeout.

Gretchen Whitmerโs sweeping use of authority during the coronavirus pandemic. The Supreme Court ordered lawyers to address by Sept. 16 whether โpublic safetyโ in the law โencompasses โpublic healthโ events such as epidemics.โ The court also wants input about how the law fits in the context of public health. The law doesn't include the word โhealth.โThe order came after the court listened to arguments Wednesday. Republicans who control the Legislature argue that Whitmer, a Democrat, should consult with them when considering whether to extend emergencies, under a 1976 law.
