Macomb County officials are concerned that heavy rainfall will cause more erosion at a stormwater drain than runs along I-94, which could potentially take out part of the freeway.

Detroit residents are getting a helping hand when cleaning up their yard waste.

HUNTINGTON WOODS, Mich. – All Huntington Woods city buildings will be closed to the public beginning on Wednesday. The closures include City Hall, the Public Works office and the Public Safety Department. The library and Gillham Recreation Center will also remain closed to the public. The city will evaluate when to reopen in three weeks. Residents can use drop boxes to pay water and tax bills.

FRASER, Mich. – Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller announced a $12.5 million settlement for a lot where a home was condemned and demolished because of a 2016 sinkhole in Fraser. It is the largest settlement ever acquired by Macomb County. Overall, 23 homes had to be evacuated -- three condemned including two damaged so badly, they had to be demolished. Neighbors John and Helen Finegen said they are happy to finally find some closure in the situation and thanked the commissioner. What they’ve done, they’ve done a good job,” said John Finegen.

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. Former Macomb County Commissioner of Public Works Anthony Marrocco is accused of extorting county contractors out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. A federal indictment claims Marrocco threatened to pull municipal contracts and withhold permits from contractors unless he received the payments.
