He is described as a 53-year-old Black man who is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs roughly 245 pounds. DETROIT – A woman was found in the middle of the street Sunday afternoon on Detroit’s west side. Police said she was found in the intersection of Hubbell and Puritan avenues with trauma to her body. According to authorities, Vanzant was last seen at about 1 a.m. at her residence in the 16000 block of Log Cabin Street, just west of the intersection of Puritan Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard. Vanzant is described as being 5 feet tall and weighing about 120 pounds. DETROIT Devonte Andre Burton was charged Wednesday afternoon in connection with a nonfatal shooting on the Southfield Freeway Saturday. According to authorities, just before 6 p.m., officers with the Detroit Police Department and Michigan State Police responded to reports of a shooting on the Southfield Freeway. Authorities found a woman slumped over the steering wheel of their vehicle and rushed the 31-year-old Detroit woman to a hospital. She is expected to survive, due in part because of a Good Samaritan who pulled over to help. Investigation by MSP and DPD led to the apprehension of Burton, a 28-year-old man from Dearborn Heights.

DETROIT – Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday on the Southfield Freeway, near Puritan Avenue just before 6 p.m. According to authorities, troopers were responding to reports of a person slumped over the steering wheel of their vehicle. Police arrived on scene and found the vehicle blocking a lane with a bullet hole in the front passenger side window. Authorities said the woman was unable to speak at the hospital, but was able to nod or shake her head to basic questions and indicated she knew who shot her. She is currently undergoing medical treatment.

According the new map released Saturday, April 18, the 48235 ZIP code -- south of 8 Mile Road, north of Puritan Avenue and between the Southfield Freeway and Meyers Road -- has the most confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) with 724 cases. DETROIT – A man angry that another driver didn’t let him merge onto Meyers Road in Detroit pulled up alongside that driver and shot him, police said. The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at the intersection of Puritan Avenue and James Couzens Freeway, according to authorities. A man in a Silver Mazda Hatchback tried to merge onto Meyers Road on Detroit’s west side in front of a 35-year-old man, officials said. The 35-year-old man didn’t allow the Hatchback to merge, so the driver followed him to Puritan Avenue and James Couzens Freeway, according to police. The 35-year-old man was struck by gunfire, but still managed to drive himself to the 13000 block of Puritan Avenue, police said.

DETROIT – Detroit police are looking for a man they say broke into an apartment several times to steal a vacuum, snowblower, cash and vending machine snacks. According to police, the man broke into the building in the 3800 block of Puritan Avenue and used a screwdriver to pry open a utility room door at 4:16 a.m. on Jan. 15. He stole the vacuum and snowblower. Police said he also went to the cafeteria, broke the glass of a vending machine and took what was inside. DETROIT – A driver who ran a stop sign sent another vehicle slamming into a house on Detroit’s west side Monday night. A Range Rover traveling north on Whitcomb ran the stop sign at Puritan Avenue and hit a Hyundai. The house’s gas meter was hit in the crash, but the residents of the home were not injured. The driver of the Hyundai was taken to a hospital. The driver of the Ranger Rover got out of their vehicle, got into another car and fled the scene.

DETROIT – Officials are offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case of a 21-year-old man who was murdered on Detroit’s west side. Wanyia Anderson, 21, was killed around 4:35 a.m. Monday in the area of Puritan and Indiana avenues, according to authorities.
