REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ€“ A 49-year-old Garden City man is accused of breaking into restaurants before leading police officers on a chase and injuring one of them Monday in Redford Township. Police said Mark Joseph Tulik broke into two restaurants in Redford Township. Officers stopped his vehicle near 5 Mile Road and Chatham Street but he fled. Police pursued but called off the chase when the suspectโ€™s vehicle traveled into oncoming traffic near Michigan Avenue and Venoy Road. Police said a Redford Township officer received several stitches in the elbow region after fighting with the suspect.

Two men are being accused of stealing mail from hundreds of Metro Detroit homes in an effort to defraud one or more banks. Justin Lohman and Justin Cutshaw are being charged with several federal criminal counts of identity theft, bank fraud stolen mail and aiding and abetting. A 13-page criminal complaint against the pair alleges that they knowingly possessed stolen mail and used personal identifying information contained within that stolen mail to execute an ongoing scheme to defraud one or more banks. At least four police departments are involved in the investigation, including departments from Grand Rapids, Livonia, Westland and West Bloomfield. Police also discovered 19 additional stolen mail victims from six different communities in evidence that the men left at a Grand Rapids hotel.

FERNDALE, Mich. A Redford woman is in critical condition after crashing a vehicle into a bridge and tree in Ferndale early Wednesday morning. Ferndale police say at about 2:30 a.m. the 40-year-old woman crashed into the bridge at Eight Mile Road and Woodward Avenue, and then struck a tree. The driver was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition. Officials say the woman may have suffered from a medical condition. No roads have been closed due to the incident.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. A 25-year-old man from Ypsilanti is facing charges related to the stabbing of a man from Redford in downtown Ann Arbor. The incident happened around 7:50 p.m. on Saturday on the 400 block of East Liberty, according to a statement from the Ann Arbor Police Department. Dvon Leetorrey Ballard of Ypsilanti was identified as a suspect and arrested at the scene, according to police. The argument continued until the men reach the 400 block of East Liberty where the stabbing occurred, police said. The man from Redford, 39, suffered multiple stab wounds to the head and body and was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition, police said.
