A Michigan man who was being held captive by Russian forces on accusations of being a U.S. spy has been reunited with his family after a rescue mission that included an 18-hour race across Ukraine, officials said.

As the work to get Americans and Afghan allies out of Kabul, a Detroit man has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to fund rescue missions.

DETROIT – The Detroit Rescue Mission’s Genesis House II is doing amazing things for women and children in Detroit without a place to call home. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the shelter could have easily closed, but instead they stayed open and found new ways to help by offering job training, virtual education for children and more. The computer lab upgrade is a part of a Comcast program called Lift Zones, which aims to help bridge the digital divide in Michigan. GRAND TRAVERSE BAY, Mich. The US Coast Guard rescued 10 people from the water in Grand Traverse Bay on Friday. Officials say the people were rescued after their boat starting sinking into the water. At around 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sector Sault Sainte Marie Command Center received a distress radio call from a 30-foot vessel that was taking on water. The crew got on scene within 20 minutes and deployed their rescue swimmer to transfer everyone to a Good Samaritan vessel that had arrived to assist. In the video a a U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmer can be seen assisting 10 people from a sinking 30-foot vessel to a Good Samaritans vessel in Grand Traverse Bay on Friday.
