It’s crazy to say, but gas prices falling below five dollars a gallon would be very helpful to drivers out there, and that could be on the way, according to one gas analyst.

Gas prices are affecting public services, which is an issue that’s forcing families to make some tough decisions as gas prices keep shooting up, and there’s no real relief in sight.

Gas prices here in Michigan have gone from worse to terrible in just a matter of days. The state-wide average is $4.93 a gallon. That’s almost 40 cents more than just last week, and it gets even worse from there. Seen in the video player above is a video sent to Local 4 from Mackinaw City with gas prices of $5.19 for a gallon of regular, and prices aren’t expected to stop rising.

One line really stood out to me during my story Tuesday about high gas prices and rising inflation. It came from Bill Maiuri, a senior I spoke to as part of my story.

With gas prices on the rise, some of the people hit the hardest are those with fixed incomes, and that includes many seniors.
