Pharmacy chain giant Rite Aid is shutting down all operations in Michigan.

TOLEDO – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a string of crimes after a two-state police pursuit Saturday night. Just after 5 p.m., a Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy in Lambertville, just north of Toledo, was informed by a citizen of a damaged black Impala parked at a Rite Aid Pharmacy located near the intersection of Secor and Sterns roads. Deputies pursued the suspect southbound into Toledo, where they turned the pursuit over to the Toledo Police Department, who took the man into custody. He is currently lodged at the Lucas County Jail, pending extradition to Michigan for face charges of armed robbery, felonious assault and more. INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An Oakland County man armed with an Airsoft pistol was arrested after he robbed a store, apologized to the clerk and shaved off all his facial hair to try to hide his identity, police said. Matthew Christopher Brusen, 21, of Independence Township, walked into the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 5751 Clarkston Road in Independence Township at 6:27 p.m. Sunday, according to authorities. Brusen took an item to the register and handed the clerk money when she scanned the item, police said. He lifted his coat to reveal a bulge, indicating he was armed, according to police. Brusen was taken to the Oakland County Jail and is facing an armed robbery charge.

After buying roughly half of Rite Aid's stores two years ago, Walgreens expanded its American footprint to more than 9,500 stores. The planned closures represent less than 3% of Walgreens locations. Walgreens did not provide a list of the stores that it plans to close. Parent company Walgreens Boots Alliance announced in June it would close 200 of its more than 2,400 Boots stores in the United Kingdom.
