According to another witness, others jumped from a window to escape the fire at the apartment building on North River Road. Local 4 News reached out to the American Red Cross and Macomb County Sheriff’s Office to check on whether anyone was hurt or displaced. Michigan State Police say at about 9:50 p.m. four teenage males from Manistee County were driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on River Road in Manistee Township when the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the side of the road. Police say when they arrived at the scene, one passenger was still stuck inside the vehicle and had to be removed. All four occupants sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital. Police believe that alcohol and speed may have contributed to the crash.

Sunset was at 7:40 p.m. and they were out looking for the deer they shot, according to authorities. Koach said the stepfather fired a shot that struck the 11-year-old boy. DNR officials are also investigating whether the family followed all the safety laws and rules, including that hunters must wear blaze orange.

The crash took place Saturday on River Road between Blackhawk Road and Fox River Drive in Kendall County, the sheriff's office said. There was one patient in critical condition and two others in fair condition at the Rush Copley Healthcare Center in Bristol Township, said Courtney Satlack, the hospital's director of marketing. No further information on ages or sex of those patients is available at this time, Satlack told CNN. A hayrack ride, or a hayride, is a traditional American fall-time activity in which a group of people ride in a trailer with hay bales.
