April paid a visit to the store where she found Halloween décor as well packages of costumes. Wanting to put her creative skills to the test, April gathered pieces around the store and came up with some pretty cool costumes. She also found this was a very inexpensive way to celebrate Halloween.

Despite record amounts of charitable donations this year, nonprofits across the country are being suffocated by the effects of the pandemic. December is typically the most important month for nonprofit revenues, as Christmas and end-of-year tax deductions drive a flood of charitable giving. That’s a $60 million drop for the iconic fundraising drive being crippled by the pandemic in numerous ways. Fidelity Charitable said it has distributed 32% more grants and seen a 20% increase in people setting up investment accounts for charitable giving this year. The national advocacy group projects 12,000 arts and cultural nonprofits are at risk of being wiped out forever.

With Christmas around the corner, the Salvation Army is scrambling to help families in need across Michigan. ANN ARBOR – The Salvation Army in Washtenaw County is in urgent need of toy donations for its Toy Drive on Saturday, Dec. 12. The need for holiday assistance has risen in the community amid the coronavirus pandemic. “We have over 1,000 children that are in need of toys in our county,” Salvation Army’s Washtenaw County Coordinator Major Kris Wood wrote A4 via email. “This is a significant increase over the past years and we need everyone to do whatever they can to help us.”From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its center at 100 Arbana Dr., volunteers will be collecting Christmas toys in reception barrels to be distributed to children throughout the county. The city’s Christmas tree is up and so is the giant red kettle. Lt. Col. John Turner is the Salvation Army Divisional Commander for the Eastern Michigan Division. ROSEVILLE, Mich. – The holidays are a time for giving, but not for one man who was seen stealing a Salvation Army red kettle from the front of a Roseville Walmart. Now police are trying to hunt down that man who targeted and watched a bell ringer. Major Candace Voeller of the Salvation Army calls the loss disheartening. Roseville Deputy Police Chief Don Glandon thinks sad desperation played a part in this theft. The kettle wasn’t replaced outside the Walmart Friday immediately making the loss that much more painful.
