Saugus High School will remain closed until Dec. 2 but counselors will be available to help students cope with their grief, said school district officials in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita. Meanwhile authorities were investigating online threats against schools in and around the Santa Clarita, sheriffs officials said Sunday.

Authorities say Berhow pulled a gun from his backpack Thursday at Saugus High School in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita, shot five students at random and then shot himself in the head. The shooting, captured on security video, took 16 seconds and investigators say they still dont have a motive. Two girls remain hospitalized but are expected to be released this weekend.

Berhows mother dropped him off at Saugus High School in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita Thursday morning, which was his birthday. With this boy, investigators have found nothing out of the ordinary.

The gunfire began around 7:30 a.m. at Saugus High School in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita. Sheriff Alex Villanueva said the shooter was a student at the school but did not identify him. Saugus Highs security is provided by one unarmed sheriffs deputy and nine campus supervisors who act as guards, said to Collyn Nielson, chief administrative officer for the William S. Hart Union High School District. In speaking with staff and hearing reports, students reported they knew what to do and immediately went into lockdown mode, he said.

Someone posted a message under a pseudonym on an Instagram account that was reported as possibly belonging to the boy, authorities said. The message said: Saugus, have fun at school tomorrow.However, the account has yet to be authenticated, a Sheriffs Department statement said. There was no indication that he was affiliated with a group or ideology, said Paul Delacourt, the agent in charge of the FBIs Los Angeles field office. Saugus High has no metal detectors but it has a dozen security cameras and a fence with a limited number of gates.
