TheRide, Washtenaw County partner to provide shuttles to mass COVID vaccination site
ANN ARBOR โ The Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (TheRide) has partnered with the Washtenaw County Health Department to provide transportation to and from the countyโs mass COVID vaccination site at Eastern Michigan Universityโs Convocation Center. Service began on Wednesday and anyone who has a scheduled appointment at the EMU site can use the shuttles. โThis is an important step in making our mass vaccination site at EMU more accessible. Weโre thankful to the TheRide for working with us to provide transportation at no cost to riders,โ Loveluck said in a news release. The shuttles operate every 30 minutesThe shuttles are limited to 20 individuals per vehicle.
Washtenaw County Sheriffโs Office investigating home invasions in Scio Township
SCIO TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ The Washtenaw County Sheriffโs Office is investigating recent home invasions in Scio Township. The suspect forced their way into residences and stole โhigh valueโ jewelry but fled once alarms were triggered, the Sheriffโs Office said in a release. Witnesses to the home invasions described a cream-colored sedan leaving the area. No further information was released at this time. Investment totaling $7.1 million to bring 266 new jobs to Ann Arbor area
Two companies will soon bring 266 new jobs to the Ann Arbor area. ANN ARBOR โ Two major projects will bring well-paying jobs and new investments to the Ann Arbor area, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced on Tuesday. Homepoint, a national mortgage lender, will also be expanding in Ann Arbor with plans to add 155 area jobs. Homepoint is looking to create 155 new jobs and generate an additional private investment of $3.7 million by adding an operations center in Ann Arbor. Ann Arbor SPARK is supporting the company with resources and staff time.
Washtenaw County Sheriffโs Office seeks missing 32-year-old woman with disability
SCIO TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ The Washtenaw County Sheriffโs Office is searching for 32-year-old Amanda Marie Debruycker, who was last seen on Sunday. According to an endangered missing person alert, Debruycker has a disability and left a group home at 4344 Eyrie Dr. at approximately 6:30 a.m.She is described as 5 feet tall, 200 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing pink and white pajamas with a floral pattern. Authorities suspect she may be in Detroit near Gratiot Ave. Anyone with information on her whereabouts should call 911 or 734-973-7711.

Submit questions, participate in public Q&A session on Gelman 1,4-Dioxane litigation
ANN ARBOR โ Local and federal officials will hold a joint public session via Zoom on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6:30 p.m. to answer questions residents have about the Gelman dioxane plume and ongoing litigation. Trustees of Scio and Ann Arbor townships and heads of the Huron River Watershed Council have been invited to take part in the session. The plume is a toxic pollution by chemical plant Gelman Sciences in Scio Township thatโs been seeping into the areaโs soil and groundwater since the late 1960s. Trace levels of the chemical have been detected in the city Ann Arborโs drinking water supply from Barton Pond starting in Feb. 2019. Driver found dead after firefighters pull burning car out of creek in Scio Township, officials say
Firefighters said a driver was dead Thursday when they pulled a burning car out of a creek in Scio Township. The car was heading south on Parker Road early Thursday morning when it went off the roadway and into the creek, according to authorities. Weather not a factor in deadly fiery Scio Township crash, police say
One person was killed Thursday after a fiery crash in Scio Township. Police said there were no skid marks found on the road and that it appeared the driver didnt apply the brakes once the vehicle went off the road. Authorities received a call Thursday morning regarding a vehicle on fire near the intersection of Parker and Gross roads, just north of I-94. Police said the vehicle left the road and drove through a cornfield before tumbling down into a small creek. Parker Road was closed between Gross and Marshall roads while police cleared the scene.
Masked man with ax breaks into Washtenaw County business
A man with an ax broke into a Scio Township business on Sept. 23, 2019. (WDIV)SCIO TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Washtenaw County authorities say a masked man with an ax broke into a Scio Township business Sept. 23. The man attempted to steal money from a cash machine and cash drawer at the business in the 6400 block of Jackson Road, but was unsuccessful, authorities said. He is described as a white man standing about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing about 220 pounds. Ypsilanti man dies after crashing motorcycle into turning car, officials say

(WDIV)SCIO TOWNSHIP, Mich. - An Ypsilanti man was killed Monday when he crashed his motorcycle into a car that was turning into a Meijer store parking lot in Scio Township, officials said. Devin Harrison, 22, was traveling north on Zeeb Road near Jackson Road around 2:25 p.m. Monday, police said. He crashed his motorcycle into a vehicle that was turning west into the Meijer parking lot from northbound Zeeb Road, according to authorities.
