DETROIT – On Nov. 5, 1978, officer Scott Larkins and his partner officer Rick Savin were ambushed while visiting a local restaurant. Officer Larkins retired from the department in 1982 and died on March 9, 2008. In recognition of his service, fallen officer Scott Larkins will also be honored at the upcoming Above and Beyond award ceremony. The Detroit Public Safety Foundation will host its 7th Annual Above and Beyond awards ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at MGM Grand in Detroit. The Fallen and Critically injured Officers Remembrance Committee of the Detroit Public Safety Foundation is sending the family of Scott Larkins to Washington, DC in May.
