A short time later the second plane hit, and that instant before anybody speculated on TV, I knew exactly what was going on: we were under attack. He stopped to get his shoes shined...by a guy set up at the base of the World Trade Center. Fifteen or twenty minutes later, the planes hit.

When I got in the car, my ESPN radio station was not talking about sports. I walked into KTNV and our newsroom, like every other newsroom in the country, had TV monitors lined up and stacked up across the back wall. At 9 a.m., our main anchor evening team was on the air broadcasting updated information about the 9/11 terrorist attack. I had no personal or familial connection to this attack but it still haunts me to this day.

I remember walking in the halls of my high school and as we switched classes, someone mentioned that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. To be honest, most of the students in my class had no idea what the building even was. That’s when we saw the second plane hit the second tower. Today, I still feel that same scared feeling in my heart reminiscing about this terrifying time in our country’s history.
