ROCHESTER, Mich. – First responders gathered in Rochester Friday to honor the lives lost in 9/11 with a new memorial garden. It was one of many 9/11 observance ceremonies across Metro Detroit. You can watch Tim Pamplin’s full story in the video above.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – While traveling on Geddes Road today you may have seen hundreds of flags as you neared Concordia University. Students at the Ann Arbor university have placed flags around the roundabout connecting Earhart and Geddes roads to commemorate the anniversary of 9/11. Concordia student volunteers placed the flags along Geddes Rd., Thursday evening Sept. 10, 2020. (Concordia University Ann Arbor)The flags are placed in commemoration of the 3,000 victims killed in the coordinated terror attacks on New York City, Pennsylvania and Virginia 19 years ago. Concordia University Ann Arbor is located at 4090 Geddes Road.

GROSSE POINTE FARMS, Mich. – A small group gathered Friday morning in Grosse Pointe Farms to pay respect to Michiganders lost in 9/11. It happened at The War Memorial, a home donated by the Alger family back in the 1940′s. David Alger was a Mutual Fund Manager who died 19 years ago in his office at the World Trace Center. The War Memorial is a moving setting for the observance, with the veteran’s garden, a large American flag flown at half-staff and Lake St. Clair lapping at the sea wall. “And as a patriotic, cultural community leader, The War Memorial is committed to those moments in time where we can bring people together and to really think about our past as we think about our future," War Memorial President Charles Burke said.
