On Nov. 3, 2018, officer Jason Zuk shot and killed 25-year-old Kanwarbir Malhi, who was allegedly acting aggressively toward police. AdThe shooting happened about 1 a.m. on Nov. 3, 2018, when Shelby Township police responded to reports of an occupied stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the Spring Lane apartment complex. Police said that although Malhi told officers he was armed, it was determined that he did not have a weapon. SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ€“ A 45-year-old Macomb Township man and his 12-year-old daughter were killed in a crash in the area of 21 Mile Road and Van Dyke in Shelby Township. Shelby Township police and fire departments were dispatched at about 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday to a crash involving two vehicles. Police said one of the vehicles, a Dodge Ram, was engulfed in flames. A preliminary investigation revealed that the Dodge Ram was traveling northbound on Van Dyke, turning left onto 21 Mile Road when a commercial truck was southbound on Van Dyke, traveling through 21 Mile Road. Anyone who was in the area and witnessed the crash is asked to contact Traffic Services Bureau Sgt.

The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at Wren and Cardinals streets in Shelby Township, according to authorities. Police said two children, ages nine and 12, were riding the ATV with their father when it slammed into a home on Cardinal Street near 22 Mile and Shelby roads. Officials believe the driver of the ATV was speeding on Wren Street and lost control in the dark at Cardinal Street and struck a house. โ€œI had to make sure that kid was OK.โ€The crash investigator for Shelby Township police was worried the children might not survive.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ€“ A house caught on fire Saturday evening near Shelby Road and 25 Mile Road, officials report. Shelby Township Police and Fire responded to the house fire around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday. According to police, the 73-year-old woman homeowner woke up to her home on fire and attempted to help her 36-year-old son out of the home unsuccessfully. The woman was forced to leave the home and call 911 at her neighborโ€™s home, police said. The home ownerโ€™s son was later found dead in the home, officials said.
