Tuesday morning update:From the city of Detroit at 10 a.m.:City contractors began residential street plowing at 6 AM today; have until 6 AM Wednesday to complete workResidents asked to remain patient over the next 24 hoursDPW crews will plow and salt on major thoroughfares. Bike lanes will be cleared after vehicle travel lanes have all been removed of snow; accumulated snow in bike lanes will be pushed to the closest intersection and hauled away. โSome time tomorrow (Tuesday), you can expect to see the plows starting to come down the residential streets.โAdThe snow is also forcing the city to move Tuesdayโs COVID vaccinations at the TCF Center to Saturday. Detroit residents can call 313-224-3901 to report if their street was missed after the city has announced it is done plowing the streets.

The National Weather Service reported two broken snowfall records at their Marquette office on Sunday. โWe recorded 8.3 inches yesterday, which breaks the old record of 3.1 inches set in 1976! This recent snowfall also established a new monthly snowfall record for the month of October at our office. Weather records for the National Weather Service office located in Negaunee Township date back to 1961.โWe havenโt seen any snow in the Metro Detroit region yet.

Vehicles may not be put back in the street until the snow emergency has been cancelled,โ reads a statement from the city. Southgate -- in effect from 8 a.m. Wednesday until 4 p.m. ThursdayMacomb County:Fraser -- in effect 6 p.m. Tuesday until further notice -- the city is asking residents not to park vehicles on any city street after 8 p.m. so city plows can clear all surface streets.
