Police discovered human skeletal remains over the weekend in a Monroe County drainage ditch, officials said. The discovery was made around 12:50 p.m. Sunday in an open field on the south side of West Stein Road, west of Strasburg Road, according to the Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone. Deputies were called to the field when a worker performing maintenance found unknown human skeletal remains, according to authorities. The remains were taken from the drainage ditch and turned over to the Wayne County Medical Examiners Office in Detroit for an autopsy and identification. Anyone with information about the discovery is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriffs Office at 734-240-7530.

The crash happened around 5:40 a.m. Thursday on Telegraph Road at the intersection of Stein Road in LaSalle Township, according to authorities. The 44-year-old Temperance woman was driving a silver Honda CRV north on Telegraph Road, police said. A man driving a red 2013 Ford C-Max west on Stein Road disregarded a stop sign and caused a crash with the CRV, according to officials. A third vehicle traveling south on Telegraph Road struck one of the vehicles in the roadway, police said.
