In 1951, her father told her she could join the high-wire act if she could do a headstand on top of the family's seven-person pyramid. She was able to join the high-wire act later that year. She is survived by her son, two daughters, Rietta Wallenda Jordan and Valerie Wallenda, and 16 grandchildren.

She received a misdemeanor hit-and-run citation, BHPD Sgt . James Keenaghan told CNN, for allegedly hitting a parked vehicle around 9 p.m. Sunday and then leaving the scene. Harvey was stopped and the cited shortly thereafter, police said. Details on the make and model of her car or where exactly this happened in Beverly Hills were not immediately released.
