Shelden Mountain Bike Fest happening this Saturday

The Metroparks have added a series of pet-friendly events called "MetroBarks."

Each kind of trail has its own rules.

A teenager who admitted to firing a gunshot Wednesday in the parking lot of a beach at Stony Creek Metropark has been released back to their parents, officials announced Thursday.

A nice getaway on a day like today is the beach, but that was interrupted by gunshots tonight at Stony Creek Metropark. Officials say that three people are in custody.

Located in Downtown Detroit and Downriver, the Detroit River offers views of the Downtown skyline, Belle Isle, Peche Island, Fisher Mansion, Detroit Canal and Grosse Ile. The Huron River is a diverse, 104 mile water trail winding through several communities and parks southwest of Detroit. The Rouge River Water Trail is located on the Rouge River from Ford Road to Garfield Road. The isle has a paved bike path where you can enjoy the view of the Detroit skyline, along with seeing our neighbors in Canada. The Dequindre Cut is a two-mile paved bike path that offers a pedestrian link between the East Riverfront, Eastern Market and several residential neighborhoods in between. Lake St. Clair Metropark offers a three-mile paved bike path that offers views of Lake St. Clair. On this path youll be able to see iconic landmarks such as Greenfield Village and Henry Fords Estate.

DETROIT – Residents tired of being stuck at home got outside for Memorial Day celebrations, heading to parks and other areas around Metro Detroit. Local 4 cut a wide swath across Metro Detroit to see if people were following social distancing and safe coronavirus (COVID-19) guidelines. A sunny Memorial Day with temperatures in the 80s led to increased traffic at Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township. Though it wasn’t quite as crowded, social distancing wasn’t much at play. Local 4 also visited other parks around Metro Detroit, including on Belle Isle.
