(CNN) - Kanye West -- a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump who once called slavery a choice -- brought his Sunday Service performances to one of the country's most prestigious historically black colleges Saturday. And the faculty and students were kind of here for it, kind of not. West pulled up to Howard University around 8 a.m., pretty early for most college students. Greg Carr, an associate professor at Howard's Department of Afro-American Studies, asked his followers to send Kanye to the library after the performance. Still, West's Sunday Service performances -- his signature hip-hop and gospel pop-up events -- have been huge.

DETROIT - It's not often one of the world's best known hip-hop artists hits the stage at noon, but Friday was different. Kanye West brought his "Sunday Service" tour to Detroit for a free concert that sold out in minutes. People started lining up at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre as early as 9 a.m. for the noon performance. Right after the "Sunday Service," West announced a free concert Friday night at the Fox Theatre. Tickets were free, but were also sold out in minutes.

For the unacquainted, West has been taking Sunday Service on the road in performances across the country. Chicago's Sunday Service comes just weeks ahead of an anticipated new album from West. According to the photo, which is also currently posted on his website, the album looks to be due on September 27.

Brad Pitt was in attendance at Kanye West's Sunday Service and it's kind of a head-scratcher. The event was held over the weekend in Watts, California, which you ordinarily wouldn't think of as a stomping ground for ether of the superstars. And there, in the crowd of folks jamming in the parking lot of a church in Watts, was Pitt. Photos on social media show Pitt and West smiling and chatting it up. CNN has reached out to a rep for Pitt for comment.
