Fall 2021 weather does not disappoint on its first weekend, or at least the second half of it. We have fantastic football weather, fitting for an NFL game today. Four planets will be visible in the nighttime sky, tonight. Even warmer weather is on the way tomorrow as a good stretch of sunshine arrives.

It’s in the form of lower humidity just in time for a hotter than average afternoon.

It has been a gradual process, but our temperatures have crept upward this week, and so have our dew point temperatures.

Meteorological summer has just begun and it will feel like we are in the middle of the hottest season of the year. The sun will be blazing and temperatures are going to soar. DETROIT – Clear skies, light wind and dry air overhead once again mean that it is a perfect night for radiational cooling -- a very efficient process where we lose our daytime surface heat to its maximum potential overnight. We saw this process in all its glory Friday night, and Metro Airport’s Saturday morning low of 38 degrees (3.5 degrees Celsius) tied our record low set in 1982. Saturday night lows will range from near or a little above 40 degrees (5 degrees Celsius) in our Urban Heat Island, to mid-to-upper 30s (1 to 4 degrees Celsius) in areas away from the city and inland from the Great Lakes. The Week AheadThe upcoming week will be a spectacular week of Pure Michigan fall weather! We’ll start the new work week with highs Monday approaching 70 degrees (21 degrees Celsius), and then warm into the mid to upper 70s (23 to 26 degrees Celsius) for the rest of the week.

DETROIT – It will be mostly sunny on Saturday with highs in the low 60s, but with much lighter wind, so it’ll be a pleasant fall afternoon even if the high is well below our average high of 73 degrees (22.5 degrees Celsius). Then Saturday night it will be clear with lows in the middle 40s (5 to 7 degrees Celsius). On Sunday it will be mostly sunny, and a tad warmer with highs in the middle 60s (18 degrees Celsius). You can expect it to be clear Sunday night with lows in the middle 40s (7 degrees Celsius).
