For today’s Take-out Tuesday, Jason got the chance to talk with the crew at J’s Penalty Box about their loyal following, and some of their specialty dishes. Owner Janice Semma said J’s Penalty Box is a woman-owned sports bar in Ferndale, serving all scratch-made food. Bar Manager Jordan Semma said making it through lockdown was challenging, but they were lucky enough to adapt and keep their staff. “We created new positions to keep everybody still working and with us to help out our community,” Semma said. Redford Lots of restaurants and bakeries are re-imagining how they do business as we emerge from staying at home. One local favorite, Ackroyds Scottish Bakery in Redford, which has been in business for 70 years, is completely changing things up and closing all their retail store. They changed up their business to make things safer for their customers and employees during the COVID-19 epidemic. Luckily for them, this change has been a positive one, with them seeing even more business than usual. Ackroyds Scottish Bakery is located at 25566 Five Mile Rd., in Redford.

Plymouth As of Monday, you now have the option to dine-in at restaurants, but you can always still get take-out, and for todays Take-Out Tuesday we are featuring one of the oldest log cabin restaurants around town, Karls Cabin in Plymouth. The log cabin building is over 70 years old and has been home to various taverns and restaurants. The Poulos family bought the restaurant in 1982.. Like many restaurants, they had to change things up due to recent events and created a drive-thru option for their carryout. Once you arrive at the restaurant, lined up traffic cones will direct you where to go. Karls cabin is located at 6005 Gotfredson Rd, in Plymouth.
