Mayor Tim Woolley of Taylor has released a statement following the accidental shooting that happened on April 24 at 5 p.m. during an auxiliary police program.

Police are investigating a fatal shooting inside a Taylor apartment complex that happened early Wednesday morning.

TAYLOR, Mich. A Taylor man is facing charges after he allegedly shot his 28-year-old son during an argument Thursday. Fredrick Larry Williams, 52, is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felonious assault, careless discharge of a weapon and two counts of felony firearm. When they arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound in front of a home. According to police, Williams and his son were arguing. The argument allegedly turned physical before Williams is accused of shooting his son with a handgun.

Police said the alleged shooter is a relative of the victim. That person was taken into custody by officers, Taylor police said. The victim was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
