Southfield police responded to reports of a shooting on Friday at 2:50 a.m. in the area of 8 Mile Road and Lahser Road. Officers found a 16-year-old Detroit girl in the back seat of the vehicle who was bleeding. Police said the investigation revealed that the girl had been shot by a known subject. Police said the girl is in stable condition at an area hospital.

Police believe the 15-year-old accidentally shot his brother when he mishandled a gun. The two were at a home in the 12000 block of Monica Street in Detroit. Adults were in the home at the time of the incident, police said. The victim is listed in temporary serious condition.

The victim was sitting in the drivers seat of his 2014 white Dodge Durango. A 2014 red Ford Fusion pulled up alongside the Durango and someone from inside the Fusion fired shots into the Durango, striking the teen.
