A man accused of killing his girlfriend and injuring her new boyfriend outside a Southfield hotel was shot and killed by police when he dropped the top of a convertible and reached for an assault rifle, officials said.

A man’s pickup truck was struck by gunfire while he was driving to work on The Lodge, police said.

DETROIT – A serious collision shut down the southbound lanes of the Lodge Freeway in Detroit Sunday night. Video from the scene shows at least two vehicles were involved near Chicago Boulevard. It’s unknown when the southbound lanes will reopen. Police have not released further details at the time.

Northbound and southbound ramps of I-75 and the Lodge Freeway going to I-94 westbound have also reopened. No word on what caused the closure.

DETROIT – The Lodge Freeway has been shut down at Davison Freeway in Wayne County due to flooding, officials said. Michigan Department of Transportation officials say the southbound lanes are affected. It’s unclear when the freeway will reopen. A flash flood warning was issued for Wayne County around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday. It expired at 3:45 p.m.

DETROIT – Michigan State Police troopers found a loaded AR-15 in a man’s vehicle after he drove off from a traffic stop. It happened on the John C. Lodge Freeway, near Livernois Avenue, on Detroit’s west side Friday night. Police said they saw a man driving up a closed freeway ramp at about 11:30 p.m. and when they attempted to pull him over, the man drove back onto the Lodge. According to authorities, there was a low-speed chase that ended quickly when the man got stuck in traffic. A loaded AR-15 was found in the vehicle’s trunk.
