AUBURN HILLS, Mich. After countless championships and concerts since 1988, The Palace of Auburn Hills was demolished in seconds on Saturday. Former Detroit Pistons player Earl Cureton played his very first game at The Palace and says saying goodbye to the arena is painful for everyone -- from players to fans. This is an exciting time for us here in Auburn Hills, said Auburn Hills Mayor Kevin McDaniel. Before the arena was sold, Auburn Hills city council rezoned the space for research and development. The one million square foot mixed-use development is expected to include corporate offices, along with research and development and technology companies.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. The remnants of The Palace of Auburn Hills -- the Detroit Pistons former hometown arena -- will be demolished Saturday morning. You can watch the demolition live in the video player above at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The Palace of Auburn Hills has been closed since 2017 and demolition began in December of last year. Much of the arena has already been gutted -- only a roof and supportive structure still remain.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. The remnants of the Detroit Pistons former hometown arena will be demolished Saturday morning. The Palace of Auburn Hills has been closed since 2017 and demolition began in December of last year. We promised the people of Auburn Hills and Oakland County that we would find a solution that would be good for the community and make a positive economic impact, Gores said. The final concert held at The Palace was Bob Seger in Sept. 2017 and the final event at the venue was the Taste of Auburn Hills in Oct. 2017. The Detroit Pistons home court now resides within the Little Caesars Arena in Downtown Detroit.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. โ€“ Looking for your chance to dance for the Detroit Pistons in their 2013-14 season? The Detroit Pistons dance team says they are looking for dancers who are talented, outgoing and energetic when auditions are held Sunday and Monday at The Palace of Auburn Hills and Great Lakes Golf & Sports Complex. Dance team members perform during games and at halftime alongside some of the biggest names in music, such as Taio Cruz, Flo Rida, Wyclef Jean, T-Pain, Gladys Knight and MC Hammer. The team says dancers will be judged on dance ability, athleticism, personality, self-confidence and the ability to be a team player. DETROIT โ€“ There will be many events and memorials Tuesday to honor the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. There will be a memorial service in downtown Detroit at 11 a.m. in Campus Martius. At 8:46 a.m. Tuesday, a moment of silence will be held at Detroit Metro Airport. The Port Huron Police Department will hold a "Service of Remembrance" at 9 a.m. at the International Flag Plaza. Several other local communities will hold similar events and memorials.
