After the mass shooting at a Detroit block party earlier this month, Caught Up Mentoring Founder and Director Toson Knight decided to bring back a program that has been dormant for months under a new name, Midnight Basketball.

Community members searched for answers after three senseless incidents occurred over the past 48 hours in Detroit, where the victims were a young child, a teenager, and a woman.

Toson Knight lost two family members last year to COVID. His mother Angela Knight and his aunt Linda Thomas both died just days apart. “My aunt went into the hospital and she ends up dying weeks later. My mom went in the hospital and she died two days after we had the viewing for my aunt. “I was with my mom when she died and a lot of my kids wanted to come with me.
