DETROIT Both sides of I-75 near I-94 will be closed in Detroit this weekend as crews demolish a bridge originally constructed in 1969. During the closure, the posted detour for northbound I-75 follows westbound I-94, northbound M-10 (Lodge Freeway), and eastbound M-8 back to northbound I-75. Southbound I-75 traffic will use westbound M-8 to southbound M-10, back to southbound I-75. All ramps, except for Holbrook Avenue to southbound I-75, will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, June 1. In addition, crews will close the left lane on southbound I-75 from Clay Street to Piquette Avenue starting at 9 a.m. Friday to mobilize demolition equipment.

DETROIT – A project to repair retaining walls on M-10 (Lodge Freeway) in Detroit begin today -- and it’ll mean closures on service drives and eventually the freeway itself. The northbound M-10 service drive from Sorrento Avenue to Outer Drive will be closed first, followed by the southbound M-10 service drive closure from Hartwell Avenue to Thatcher Avenue for pavement removal. The northbound M-10 service drive will be detoured to northbound Meyers Road, then westbound 7 Mile Road back to the northbound M-10 service drive. DETROIT – A $3 million fund to improve railroad crossing surfaces has been awarded to 21 counties in Michigan for 2020. The Michigan Department of Transpiration announced the 41 projects that would be funded across the 21 counties, including in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. DETROIT – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is closing southbound M-10 (Loge Freeway) at Wyoming Avenue, south of McNichols Road in Detroit, for work on the Wyoming Avenue bridge over the freeway. Since this work will require more time than a normal weekend closure, both closures will begin at 10 a.m. each Friday and will reopen by 5 a.m. the following Monday. In a new report released by the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, pedestrian crashes are on the rise but traffic crashes and injuries are decreasing. According to the report, traffic crashes and injuries have been decreasing from 2016-2018. The report also said, bicycle crashes and injuries are down to a 10-year low. "With warmer weather providing more opportunities for people to be mobile and enjoy the outdoors, pedestrian, bike, and vehicle traffic is expected to increase. campaign, which is to bring safety awareness to those who walk, bike and drive.

Troopers will take part in three traffic safety initiatives over the Memorial Day holiday weekend in an effort to reduce or eliminate serious injury and fatal traffic crashes. BAY COUNTY, Mich. – A project to fix a stretch of I-75 in Bay County is kicking off this week. "You’re going to see lane shifts and lane reductions," Jocelyn Hall, the Bay Region Communication Representative with MDOT to NBC 25. In anticipation of the project, the Chip Road bridge and Mackinaw Road bridge are already closed. Part of these bridges, as well as the Wilder Road bridge, will be completely redone during the construction. "It’s best to just go ahead and remove that pavement and lay a new deck and it will greatly improve the driving surface and be a driving surface that will be in service for years to come.

DETROIT – For drivers who take I-94 through Wayne County, the summer isn't going to be easy. Bridge replacements and other work is going to have the freeway torn up in phases from Connor Street in Detroit all the way past Detroit Metro Airport to I-275. Oakland County has approved a $25 million program to resurface more than 90 miles of roads in the county in 2019. The preservation overlay program involves simple resurfacing with two inches of asphalt of roads that are in fair condition. The program provides a smooth, new road surface and extends the life of the road by five to 10 years.
