DETROIT – Three people were killed in a crash on New Year’s Eve in Detroit’s Corktown area. Detroit police said the crash happened around 10:40 p.m. on Michigan Avenue near 16th Street. An 87-year-old man was driving a 2017 Cadillac, traveling west on Michigan Avenue when his vehicle collided into a Mercury Sable, occupied by two people, police said. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. DETROIT – Police are investigating a car crash that left two people in critical condition Saturday morning. The Hyundai was traveling west on E. Davison Street near Klinfer Street. The 28-year-old male driver of the Hyundai and a 24-year-old female passenger were taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition. Police say the driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe initially fled the scene following the crash. NOVI, Mich. – Novi police are investigating a serious crash that has resulted in the closure of Novi Road. The crash happened Saturday evening, involving three vehicles, on Novi Road near 10 Mile Road. Police said one adult suffered non-life threatening injuries. Weather was not a factor in the crash. Police posted this bulletin on Saturday around 8 p.m.“Novi Road south of Ten Mile (at Algonquin) will be closed for an extended period of time due to a crash investigation.

MARATHON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 33-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning after crashing his vehicle into a tree in Lapeer County. Lapeer County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene just after midnight on Dec. 14 on North Lake Road, south of Castle Road in Otter Lake (Marathon Township). Police said 33-year-old Adam Dolmage from Otter Lake was the lone occupant and driver of a 2009 Nissan Sentra traveling north on North Lake Road. Northbound traffic encounters a posted curved roadway (right for northbound motorist) between Briggs Road and Castle Road. Lifesaving efforts were immediately started at the scene and continued to McLaren in Lapeer Emergency Division.

A Michigan man was killed after hitting a deer while riding his motorcycle on I-75. The crash happened on Sunday night in Ogemaw County, according to WPBN. The driver, after colliding with the deer, was separated from his motorcycle and was struck by another vehicle. Dennis Dankert, 67 of Prudenville, died at the scene, according to police. The crash closed northbound lanes of I-75 for several hours.

OCEANA COUNTY, Mich. – A father and daughter were killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Northern Michigan. WPBN reports the crash happened on US-31 near West Hammett Road in Pentwater Township (about 16 miles south of Ludington) around 9:44 p.m. Tuesday. Police said a 2013 GMC Yukon, driven by Mark Hezlep, 52 of South Bend, Indiana, had drifted off the road, went into the median and hit a large tree. Hezlep's daughter, Casey Emmons, 26 of Lakeville, Indiana, was in the front passenger seat at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation, but investigators told WPBN there is a suspicion of fatigue involved.

BRANCH TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The driver involved in a fatal crash last weekend says his sandal is to blame. The crash happened on Sunday evening in Branch Township, about 20 miles east of Ludington. Mason County sheriff's deputies say a 42-year-old Grand Rapids man was driving east on Young Road when he said his sandal got stuck on the gas pedal, WOOD reports. One of the people on the tailgate, a 47-year-old man from Crystal, fell off the truck and hit his head on the pavement. It's unclear if the driver, a 42-year-old man from Grand Rapids, will face any charges.

REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Dearborn man died Monday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Redford Township. The crash happened at about 1:15 a.m. at the intersection of Telegraph and Joy roads. Police said an SUV involved in the crash fled the scene, but officers tracked down the vehicle and a suspect was taken into custody. INKSTER, Mich. – Three adults and two children were hurt in Inkster on Friday night in a crash that appears to have been caused by a drunken driver, police said. Three vehicles were involved in the wreck, which took place near the intersection of Middlebelt Road and Michigan Avenue. The Inkster Police Department and the Michigan State Police are looking into the circumstances of the crash. Investigators said the driver of a Pontiac G-6 smashed into a minivan and an SUV. As of just after 11 p.m., the Pontiac G-6 was spotted on a tow truck, with debris from the collision still littering the roadway.

DETROIT – Heavy rains caused flooding on some Detroit-area freeways, forcing officials to close portions of interstates 696 and 94. I-696 was closed on both directions early Friday in Warren after rains left some motorists stranded. Water over the roadway closed I-94 in Harper Woods -- it has since reopened. Westbound I-696 at Van Dyke is closed. 696 east closed at Mound and Groesbeck for flooding.

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – Roseville police say they believe alcohol and speeding were factors in an early morning crash Thursday that killed a 32-year-old man. Shane Caughey was going westbound on 12 Mile Road near Congress Street when he lost control of his 2007 Monte Carlo and crashed into a tree, police said. He was wearing a seatbelt, but appeared to be going more than 70 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone, police said.
