What do “Christmas cookies” mean to you? For me and my family, it is a plethora of different cookies that we only make between Thanksgiving and Christmas. During the Christmas season my family makes five different kinds of cookies: Russian Teacakes, Toffee Squares, Apricot Cookies, Magic Cookie bars, and of course your classic cut-out cookies. Today we’re celebrating National Homemade Cookies Day. Lauren Roumayah owner of the Detroit Cookie Company in Ferndale gave us a few pointers. Roumayah suggests using a spoon to scoop flour into the measuring cup to stop it from clumping. If you make too much cookie dough, Roumayah says you should scoop the dough into small balls and freeze them for later.
