Police have identified the human remains that were found at the former Trenton home of a man who was killed in a shootout with Tennessee police about a month after leaving the property.

TRENTON, Mich. Police are investigating after an apparent human skull was found in a fire pit at a Trenton home this week. Police believe that the skull found in the fire pit is human but are waiting for confirmation from an anthropologist. Officials say they have no reason to believe that there is more than one body at the site. Eberly recently died during a shootout with police in Crossville, Tennessee, officials say. Officials say Eberly had previously encountered Tennessee police and was arrested on June 19 for driving on a revoked license and resisting arrest.

TRENTON, Mich. Police have been asked to reopen an investigation into the death of a teenager who was found hanging from a noose in the basement of a Trenton home eight years ago. Anthony Holman said hell never forget when he found his friend, James Franklin, 17, hanging in the basement of a Trenton home on Oct. 22, 2012. But Franklins brother, Elijah Stallworth, told the Local 4 Defenders he doesnt believe his brother killed himself. Trenton police investigated for a second time, and the autopsy didnt reveal any trauma to Franklins head. But this week, Trentons police chief posted on Facebook that the department is working with the Wayne County Prosecutors Office on the case.
