Forget the usual approach of putting one bowl of candy at your front door and handing it out to children this Halloween. Instead, mask up and put on some gloves if you’re going to be handing out candy. Make up individual bags of candy that the trick-or-treaters can easily grab and go. ANN ARBOR – Spirit of Children will be continuing its tradition this year by bringing Halloween fun to young patients at Michigan Medicine C.S. During the “reverse trick-or-treat” event, Mott child life specialists will deliver special care packages with activity books, treat bags, assorted costumes and crayons donated by the organization to Little Victors. The nonprofit arm of Spirit Halloween supports Child Life programs that aim to make hospitalization more comfortable for children and their families. Over the last five years, Spirit of Children has donated more than 1,000 costumes to Mott Children’s inpatients and their siblings at Halloween parties. Music therapists and child life specialists at Mott have also partnered with Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan to host a virtual Halloween party that will feature a special Monster mash video.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Halloween is different this year and so is how Ann Arbor residents are collecting candy with their little ghouls. While some residents are opting to stay home, others are trying to keep trick-or-treating fun but safe. The City of Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County Health Department have shared recommendations made by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Here are some safety tips to consider this Halloween:Parents should explain why trick-or-treating this year is different and discuss safety and physical distancing with their children. Inside residential gatherings in the City of Ann Arbor must be 10 persons or smaller while outside residential gatherings are limited to 25 people.
