A number of other medical centers have also recently ramped up visitation restrictions as COVID-19 cases climb throughout Michigan. On Wednesday, the state reported 4,273 new COVID-19 cases and 73 new deaths in Michigan since Tuesday.

Officials said Thursday that visitation protocols will remain the same at the DMC Childrenโs Hospital of Michigan and the DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan. New COVID-19 cases have been increasing rapidly throughout the state in recent weeks, and virus hospitalizations have risen in response. Testing has increased in recent weeks, with more than 45,000 diagnostic tests reported per day, but the positive rate has increased to above 11% over the last week.
