DETROIT – Two women were killed Monday morning when their vehicle struck a utility pole at Joy Road and Trinity Street in Detroit. Police said the women were traveling in a 2005 Saab when the vehicle left the road and hit the pole. It’s unclear what caused this deadly crash. No other injuries have been reported. It remains under investigation.

FARMINGTON, Mich. – A former priest in the Farmington area has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor. The charges are part of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s investigation into sexual abuse within the seven Catholic dioceses across the state. Gary Berthiaume, 78, has been charged with one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. The victim was 14 years old at the time of the assault, officials said. Berthiaume was arrested in 1977 for sexual assault of two other minors in Michigan.

Teens have already built benches and tables for a new park in the west side neighborhood. The city wants young people involved in the planning because nearly half of the area's residents are children, and the hope is that they will live in the area for a long time. Huntington Bank is going to help with developments in the neighborhood in the form of $5 million over five years. The money will be used to revamp the business district and build new housing.
