Homeowners in Detroit who are behind on their water bill will soon face the possibility of their water being shut off as a COVID-era moratorium expires in the new year.
A ruling from an appeals court could put the City of Highland Park in a world of hurt. That ruling re-instates a $21 million unpaid water bill, and that’s a number the city of less than ten thousand just can’t afford.
The DWSD Lifeline Plan was approved on Tuesday by Detroit’s Board of Water Commissioners, allowing Detroiters access to affordable water.

ANN ARBOR The city of Ann Arbor has announced that water customers can now use a free online tool -- called AquaHawk -- to help track their water consumption and receive alerts via text, phone or email. Only one account per customer number should be added. Those with multiple accounts with the same customer number will be linked within 24 hours. In addition to tracking usage, customers will also be notified of any detected leaks and when they are about to exceed their preferred water consumption limit.
