Police said a 73-year-old man was driving south on Middlebelt Road when he crossed the center line and hit another vehicle head-on. The 73-year-old was transported in critical condition and pronounced dead at the hospital. Middlebelt Road was closed between Shore Hill Drive and Long Lake Road, but it has since reopened.
