Most of the moisture from that system should hang out in the northern part of the state, but rain and snow showers are possible. White Christmas chanceTemperatures will start dropping on Christmas Eve after a relatively mild start to next week. Highs will stay below freezing on Dec. 24, so some late rain and snow Wednesday will transition to all snow by Thursday morning. Plus, with Christmas Day highs only reaching the mid-20s, whatever does show up Thursday will likely hang around even past the official measurement time of 7 a.m. Expect some flurries on Christmas Day.

Highs will struggle to get to freezing (32 degrees -- 0 degrees Celsius), with a north wind at 5 to 10 mph. Mostly cloudy Thursday night, with lows in the mid 20s (-4 degrees Celsius). So right now, I think we’ll start the day mostly cloudy, become partly cloudy for a few hours, then become mostly cloudy again. Highs Saturday should get to near 40 degrees (4 to 5 degrees Celsius), and highs Sunday in the upper 30s (3 to 4 degrees Celsius).

It’s going to be close to that on Monday around Metro Detroit with tons of sunshine, and we will stay in those 40s with dry weather through Christmas. No big storms coming our way, so there is seemingly no chance for a White Christmas in Detroit.
