Michigan State Police seized nearly 10,000 pills during a bust Wednesday.

The County of Macomb Enforcement Team (COMET) executed five search warrants in Fraser, Chesterfield Township, and Clinton Township, resulting in the seizure of crack cocaine and over 19,000 pills, including methamphetamine, that were pressed to resemble prescription Adderall pills and Xanax pills.

ROCHESTER, Mich. – A Rochester teacher charged with having sex with two of her high school students, and giving one of those students drugs, has been sentenced to at least 4 years (51 months) in prison. Kathryn Houghtaling, 26 at the time, was charged in Jan. 2019 with six counts of criminal sexual conduct in the second-degree. Houghtaling was a first-year teacher who taught special education at Rochester High School. The maximum sentence for the crimes is 15 years in prison, but it was not expected that she would be sentenced to serve above the minimum 51 months in prison. Sources say Houghtaling had sex with the boys at an apartment and one time in a car, while other students watched.

The search warrant resulted in approximately 60 grams of crystal methamphetamine and Xanax bars seized. The suspect, 42-year-old Charles Culberston of Grawn, was arrested during the search warrant. A female suspect also lives at the home and returned there during the search warrant. Nicole Shamblin, 36-years-old, was held in Grand Traverse County for possession of methamphetamine and probation violation. Child Protective Services was contacted following the search warrant because an underage person was found at the home.
