He made copies of images and videos that he found and stored them at home, the US Attorney's office said. Ruiz was charged with one count of computer intrusion and one count of interception of a wire communication, but under the plea agreement pleaded guilty to just the computer intrusion charge, the statement says. Ruiz is currently released on a $200,000 bond and has a sentencing hearing scheduled for February 3, 2020, the US attorney's office said. He could face five years in prison for the computer intrusion charge and a fine of $250,000, plus restitution, the office said in its statement.

Yahoo acquired Tumblr for $1.1 billion in 2013, making it the largest acquisition of former CEO Marissa Mayer's tenure. In a statement Monday, Verizon Media CEO Guru Gowrappan said the deal to sell off Tumblr was "the culmination of a thoughtful, thorough and strategic process."
