The stay-at-home-mother of 4 posts videos of her baking on social media, and has received over 2 million video likes. One of her fans is “Live in the D’s,” Tati Amare, who says she enjoys watching her fun-filled videos online. Kazan is taking her baking skills to another level, and has recently appeared on the network baking competition show, “The Great Chocolate Showdown.”

When Crumbs and Craft Bakery owner Inge Bruneel first moved to Michigan from her home country of Belgium, she said she had trouble finding bakeries like they had back home.

Host Tati Amare was joined by Toi Roberts, owner of Rolais’ Caribbean Bakery, a business that is bringing this creative combination to life. She was introduced to Caribbean flavors by a friend of hers and fell in love with them, deciding to add them to her baked treats. Flavors include Lemon Poppyseed Hibiscus, Passionfruit Lemon, Calypso Coconut Lime, Butter Rum Raisin, Guava Stuffed, Limbo Lime Pie, and many more. It’s perfect weather for a steaming hot cup of hot chocolate and a bakery in Plymouth has marshmallows that are a national food award finalist to pair with it. The Blu Kitchen in Plymouth originally started as a place to find delicious macaroons, inspired by owner Adina St. John’s desire to recreate the treat her husband enjoyed during a business trip to France. Now, The Blu Kitchen offers various flavors of macaroons, hot chocolate mixes, and homemade marshmallows that are a top five finalist in The Good Food Award. The bakery’s vanilla flavored marshmallows were one out of 3,000 entries across the country,Watch the video above to hear more about The Blu Kitchen and their sweets.

Kila Peeples met with business owner April Anderson to learn about the surprising journey that led to her to create Good Cakes and Bakes in Detroit. Good Cakes and Bakes focuses on making Southern influenced baked goods, from German Chocolate cupcakes to St. Louis favorite Gooey cake. April says she has been baking since she was young girl, helping her mother out the kitchen. She was working in finance before she decided to change her path and open Good Cakes and Bakes. WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Friendship Circle of Michigan has done amazing work helping people with special needs find jobs. The mission has grown so much, that they’re expanding in a big way. They have purchased a bakery to expand job options for people with special needs. READ: Michigan camp for individuals with special needs perseveres through COVID-19 pandemicDakota Bread is known for some of the best challah around. The bakery was purchased by the organization, and people in West Bloomfield Township came out to celebrate the new acquisition.

They also serve three kinds of stuffed cookies. Altimimy started the business with his sister Sarah in 2018. The two sold cookies out of their house, and over the last two years built a demand for their product. They serve white chocolate macadamia cookies stuffed w cookie butter, a cheesecake stuffed cookie, and chocolate nutella stuffed cookies. Known for their popular tres leches cake, made with three kinds of milk, rum, and soaked in a delicious sauce, Mexicantown Bakery showed off some of their other baked goods to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The business is family owned, and sister of the owner Cecilia Benedict spoke with Live in the D live from Mexicantown. Benedict said that food is an important part of Mexican and other Hispanic cultures because it brings communities together in everything from celebration to mourning. Customers don’t have to go far for their drinks either since Mexicantown Bakery also serves a variety of Hispanic coffee and espresso beverages. Tati personally recommended the tres leches cake and cuban coffee as her go-to orders from the bakery.

YPSILANTI, Mich. A bakery in Ypsilanti is going above and beyond to help the community during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Bird Dog Baking is working with others to help spur small business in the area. Jennifer Haglund and Mark Bogard are part of the small business with big plans.
