The Senate voted unanimously in favor of the main measure, which would let microbrewers self-distribute up to 2,000 barrels annually up from 1,000. Under the tiered system, brewers sell their beer to distributors or wholesalers which sell it to stores. Jay Fettig, owner of North Pier Brewing in Benton Harbor, said the legislation would help grow small craft breweries by simplifying and streaming the liquor law. Other bills would ease licensing for beer festivals and reduce the frequency of beer- and wine-related taxes.

The Google researchers discovered "a total of fourteen vulnerabilities," half of them linked to the iPhone's web browser. Beer described the attempted hack as a campaign to exploit "iPhones en masse." The vulnerabilities covered almost every version of the iPhone operating system "from iOS 10 through to the latest version of iOS 12," Beer added. "This indicated a group making a sustained effort to hack the users of iPhones in certain communities over a period of at least two years," he wrote.
