ANN ARBOR – Having just completed the Allen Creek Railroad Berm Project, the city of Ann Arbor is now setting its sights on the creation of a new pedestrian tunnel beneath the railroad near Bandemer Park. City officials and Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission staff will hold a public online meeting Wednesday, Dec. 2 to share project goals, refined design based on feedback from residents and the feasibility study recommendations. They will also open up the meeting for public comment after their presentation. City and county officials will also share a proposal to extend the Border-to-Border Trail through Barton Nature Area. ANN ARBOR, Mich. Ann Arbors many cyclists can now share their opinions about comfortable bike routes around Tree Town through a new survey. On an interactive map of existing and proposed bike routes, cyclists can give feedback to refine a network of routes that will help the city update its Comprehensive Transportation Plan. Routes range from prioritized smaller streets for bicycle travel to separated bike paths on main streets. Those taking the survey will be asked to consider different types of bike infrastructure, like bike boulevards and side paths. The citys Comprehensive Transportation Plan is a guiding document for transportation policies, programs, and investments in the transportation network.

The Ann Arbor Velo Club has created AAVC Bingo to keep its members motivated and moving during the COVID-19 pandemic. The bingo game is simple: Download an AAVC Bingo card and do five consecutive activities. Activities range from making bike ride Strava art to ordering food from an Ann Arbor Velo Club sponsor. AAVC Bingo is the Ann Arbor Velo Clubs second challenge during the pandemic. Corle said that the cycling club is likely to have more events in the future, including different ride challenges.

The southeast Michigan Council of Governments says funding will come from the Transportation Alternatives Program. Projects include more than $1 million for a greenway shared-use trail in Washtenaw County’s Pittsfield Township and $1 million for an Island Lake State Recreation Area trail connection in Livingston County’s Green Oak Township. The council supports coordinated local planning with technical, data and intergovernmental resources. It serves Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.
