Pioneer's A Cappella Choir has earned the statewide distinction five times.

We’ve seen the Detroit Youth Choir (DYC) rise to the top during their appearance on “America’s Got Talent”, and with many new opportunities that have opened up for them since then. Now the choir is returning to the national stage.

The DYC is keeping their talent and legacy going.

The choir was nominated after it succeeded in the public voting round for the award nomination, which ended April 1.

It’s been two years since Terry Crews hit the golden buzzer and launched the Detroit Youth Choir on a journey that won them the hearts of many on “America’s Got Talent.”

DETROIT – The Detroit Youth Choir took to the world of politics Friday when they released a new song about the highly-watched Senate races in Georgia. READ: Stakes high for U.S. Senate runoffs in GeorgiaThe song -- titled “Georgia’s Changing” -- only featuring two artists instead of the entire choir. Both artists featured in the song have grandparents from Georgia who were also active in the civil rights movement. The song ends with a message telling watchers to vote blue and vote for the democrats in the race. The video was posted to the Detroit Youth Choir’s Twitter account with a quote from Lewis.

UTICA, Mich. – A Macomb County high school isn’t letting the COVID-19 pandemic stop them from spreading Christmas cheer. Choir students from Eisenhower High School in Utica managed to perform a Christmas classic together virtually. “I kind of expected it because, you know, we weren’t going into second semester already,” senior Carson Dietz said. “I was pretty bummed because I wanted to sing a specific song this year.”It’s bittersweet for some of the senior choir students who are missing out on their annual Christmas concert. “I wanted to create something that at least kind of makes a memory for these kids,” Holt said.

One year ago, the Detroit Youth Choir finished in second place, and this year, the choir returned for an encore performance. The choir prerecorded its performance in Detroit instead of live in Los Angeles because of COVID-19 restrictions and changes to the show. White says Detroit Youth Choir is now made up of three different choirs, developing at different levels. It was established at the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, providing support to the Detroit Youth Choir in perpetuity. Shyel White said being a part of the Detroit Youth Choir improved her self-confidence.
