COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital is offering a less invasive treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome. Carpal tunnel syndrome involves pain, numbness, tingling and weakness in the hand. It’s caused by pressure on the median nerve in the wrist and is brought on by swelling of the transverse carpal ligament. DMC Huron Valley-Sinai HospitalDMC said the new treatment requires only a very small incision and uses ultrasound to find a pathway to the transverse ligament through the carpal tunnel. Carpal tunnel syndrome can be debilitating if left untreated.

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Michigan’s medical community came together to help a child in need. Christ Thiobino came to Michigan about 3 years ago and he was fitted with prosthetic legs at the University of Michigan. “He’s really been walking around mostly on his hands over the last several months, waiting on his new legs,” Webb said. Christ needs to re-learn how to walk with newly fitted legs. The Children’s Medical Mission Network of Ohio sponsored the mission effort.

Responding deputies and fire fighters suspect there was some form of narcotics operation running out of the home, and multiple butane tanks exploded.

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Volunteers from thirty companies worked together Saturday at a Metro Detroit park. Scarlet’s Playground opened in Commerce Township in June. The Michigan Green Industry Association Day of Service donated and installed nearly $80,000 dollars worth of landscaping, flowers and plants. They compete in their field, bidding on jobs, but today they’re all as one,” said Diane Banks with Michigan Green Industry Association. The Huron Valley Schools district is shifting to remote learning for at least a week after Oakland County’s coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak risk level was increased last week. A level E risk determination means that there are 150 or greater cases per million with a 20 or greater percent positivity rate. There are school districts in the state and country that are operating in counties with a level E risk determination. Huron Valley Schools will be moved to full remote learning for at least the week of November 2nd. The state’s new risk level appears to be largely due to an increased infection rate and rapid increase of daily new COVID-19 cases.

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Commerce Township officials said they may seek legal action after a township worker was cut by razor blades that were taped along a political sign. In Commerce Township, political signs cannot be in the right-of-way, or no closer than 33 feet from the center of the road. A township worker stopped to remove two signs that were 9 feet too close on Sleeth Road. He jumped and let go of it, looked at his hand and realized he was bleeding aggressively,” said Commerce Township Supervisor Dave Scott. COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said a Commerce Township employee was cut by razor blades while he was removing a political sign in the right-of-way (within 33 feet of the center of the road) on Sleeth Road. Deputies said as part of his job with the township, the employee was removing the sign that was located 24 feet from the center of the road. The employee was cut on three fingers from the blades that were taped on the bottom of the sign. Deputies said the homeowner indicated that their signs were taken, and when they returned home from out of town, the signs were back in their yard. A total of two signs had razor blades, according to the county Sheriff’s Office.
