OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Crews working on segment two of the I-75 modernization project in Oakland County will start working to remove a temporary barrier wall on the northbound side of the freeway. By early October, two lanes of northbound I-75 are expected to be open via the left and center lanes throughout the limits of segment two. Access to northbound I-75 entrance and exit ramps will be maintained once the lanes are shifted. Both directions of I-75 will have two lanes open between 8 Mile and Adams roads until late November. BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – A driver called police and reported that she struck a pedestrian in Birmingham on Tuesday at 3:30 a.m., police said. She told police she drove through the intersection of Maple Road and Coolidge Highway on a green light when she struck a pedestrian. A 30-year-old man from Birmingham was killed, according to police. The South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team (SOCCIT) was called to the scene to conduct an investigation. Three southbound lanes will be closed on I-75 between Davison Freeway and I-94 beginning 8 p.m. Wednesday through 5 a.m. Thursday. MDOT crews will be working on the Milwaukee Avenue overpass, weather permitting. OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Two drivers were killed on eastbound I-696 in Oakland County when two cars struck them while they were standing outside their vehicles following a minor crash, police said. The two drivers had been involved in a minor crash around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday in the eastbound lanes of I-696 between the Woodward Avenue and Coolidge Highway exits, according to authorities. “A minor crash -- two male individuals get out of their vehicles waling around and another vehicle comes through and hits them,” Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw said. “Right now we believe we have four vehicles involved, two male fatalities,” Shaw said. “If you’re involved with a traffic crash, it’s just a traffic crash,” Shaw said.

OAK PARK, Mich. – A man was hit and killed by a vehicle Tuesday night in Oak Park. Police said the driver was turning when she struck the pedestrian just before 7:30 p.m. at 8 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway. However, a second vehicle also hit the man, killing him. Police are trying to find the driver of that second vehicle but have not released any information on what type of vehicle he or she was driving. OAK PARK, Mich. – A driver took off during a traffic stop Sunday, dragging an Oak Park police officer behind her vehicle. Police stopped a Chevrolet Equinox about 4:45 p.m. after the driver was seen stealing clothes from Citi Trends at 9 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway. The driver gave the officer her ID, but when he asked her to get out of the vehicle, she drove away, dragging him for about 20 feet. Police said the woman ran a red light to get away.
