Sweetest Day is coming up this weekend, and that has us thinking about dating, love, and relationships today on What's the Buzz.

The casting team for “Love Island USA” wants Detroit singles to apply to be on the next season of the reality dating show.

During the beginning of the pandemic, Netflix launched a reality tv show called “Love is Blind.” The show has opened up casting and is looking for singles that live in the Metro Detroit area.

The Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) is reminding people to remain cautious when meeting new people and sharing personal information online.

According to a 2019 Stanford study, online dating is now the most common way couples meet or connect. According to the data, the most-searched online dating question in Michigan is: “How to break up over text”Michigan is not alone in this one -- there are a handful of other states with the same top-search. “How to date online” is the most-searched digital dating query in nine states. Online dating was already popular before 2020, but online dating became some people’s only way to put themselves out there with social distancing in place.

The COVID-19 pandemic may have slowed a lot of things down, but dating wasn’t one of them. Dating online or through an app has skyrocketed over the past few months and it’s only getting more popular. One way daters are making up for not having the ability to meet in person are through virtual dates. If a person feels like they are ready to seek a date, getting your online profile right is key. DETROIT – With COVID-19 cases surging again in Michigan and throughout the country, many are looking at a long, lonely winter. For people who are single, the virus really cuts into their social lives and prevents opportunities for romance. For anyone who has been looking for love in all the wrong places, coronavirus has even further reduced those places. In just 22 days, Chaben says she has already fixed up 60 couples on first dates -- men with women, women with women, men with men.
