DETROIT – A combination of heat and old infrastructure caused a Downtown Detroit road to buckle and a water main to break Saturday night. The water flooded the basement of the David Stott Building on Griswold Street, near Campus Martius, leaving dozens without power. It happened on Independence Day at about 10:30 p.m. A water main burst along Griswold Street between Michigan Avenue and State Street, flooding the intersection. Bedrock released the following statement:The Stott building is currently experiencing a power outage resulting from a water main break late Saturday evening. We are currently evaluating the extent of the damage and have reached out to all building residents as we assess necessary repairs.
